MMHTF Statement on Inquest into Death of Terrill Thomas At Milwaukee County Jail
The Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force is profoundly disturbed by the reports of deaths at the Milwaukee County Jail in 2016, involving individuals who seem to have had significant mental health issues. Today, prosecutors are moving forward with an inquest into the death of Terrill Thomas, a man with significant mental health needs, who died of profound dehydration in his Milwaukee County jail cell.
Joint Committee on Finance Public Hearing on State Budget
The Wisconsin Legislature Joint Committee on Finance is holding a public hearing on the state budget in Milwaukee on April 5th at State Fair Park – Exposition Center 8200 West Greenfield Avenue from 10 AM – 5 PM.
Block off the day and turn out early to register to speak about priorities in the state budget for Wisconsinites with mental health needs. See the link to the Survival Coalition of Wisconsin Disability Groups for a great overview of key issues in the budget for your testimony.

2018 BHD budget priorities
Last Thursday, the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board held a Public Hearing to invite input on priorities for the 2018 Behavioral Health Division Budget. The Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force shared our priorities for the 2018 budget – please see the testimony from the MHTF. Thanks to Susan Sigl for presenting the MHTF testimony and Todd Scharrer who provided informative and enthusiastic testimony in support of Peer Run Respite, as co-chair of the Mental Health Task Force Peer Run Respite Advisory Council.
