Housing: Opportunities, Rights and Resources

Many people who live with a mental illness struggle to find and maintain safe, accessible, affordable housing. Access to housing is key to maintaining recovery. This virtual forum will explore opportunities to expand access to housing, tenant rights including disability related accommodations, and resources to support consumers with maintaining housing.

    In 2014, the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board was created by 2013 Wisconsin Act 203 to oversee the provision of mental health functions and services in Milwaukee County.  There is currently an open position on the board, as Robert Curry has resigned. We thank Robert for his service. His resignation leaves open the position on the board for “A representative of the community who is a consumer of mental health services.”

    Mental Health Task Force August 11 Briefing on the 2021 Milwaukee County Budget

    The Milwaukee County Budget is vital to funding essential services for children and adults with disabilities, including mental health needs, and for older adults.  The 2021 budget is being crafted during a time of extraordinary fiscal challenges due to the pandemic.

    Join us August 11 from 3 – 5 PM for a virtual briefing on the 2021 budget requests to learn about the 2021 budget and how you can get involved. Budget resources and meeting materials will be posted on the Mental Health Task Force website as they become available.
